PrimeRevenue Brings Trade Finance Instruments to Solana

  • News
  • October 28, 2026

PrimeRevenue is moving its Electronic Time Draft (ETD) instrument onto the Solana blockchain, marking a step toward connecting traditional corporate trade finance with on-chain capital markets. The working capital technology provider says tokenization will create a shared digital record of instrument issuance, transfers, lifecycle events and maturity settlements. The initiative initially connects PrimeRevenue’s existing funding network with blockchain infrastructure, with broader access for eligible on-chain investors envisioned over time. The move reflects growing interest in tokenized real-world assets as financial institutions explore new ways to distribute short-duration credit and improve working capital liquidity.

PrimeRevenue Takes Trade Finance to Solana With ETD Tokenization

PrimeRevenue is extending its working capital platform onto blockchain infrastructure by tokenizing Electronic Time Drafts (ETDs) on Solana, a move that could connect established corporate payment obligations with a wider pool of institutional capital.

Announced on October 26, 2026, the initiative marks PrimeRevenue’s first step toward bringing traditional trade finance instruments into decentralized finance (DeFi). The company says its platform serves 50,000 companies, works with more than 100 funding partners and facilitates over $300 billion in annual payment transactions. These figures are company-reported, rather than independently audited metrics in the announcement. PrimeRevenue+1

What tokenized Electronic Time Drafts do

An Electronic Time Draft represents a buyer’s obligation to pay a specified amount on a defined future date. Such instruments can help businesses manage the gap between supplying goods or services and receiving payment. Depending on the financing arrangement, a supplier may be able to obtain funds before the draft matures by transferring or selling the payment claim to a funder.

PrimeRevenue already manages ETDs electronically. The new initiative adds a blockchain-based representation intended to record issuance, transfers, lifecycle events and maturity settlement on a shared ledger.

In principle, a common record can reduce discrepancies between counterparties maintaining separate transaction records. It may also make it easier for participating institutions to verify an instrument’s status and track changes during its lifecycle.

However, tokenization alone does not guarantee faster settlement of the underlying corporate debt. Actual payment still depends on the instrument’s contractual terms, the parties involved and the payment infrastructure used to discharge the obligation. PrimeRevenue has not publicly detailed all the operational and legal arrangements for the new implementation.

Why Solana matters to the project

PrimeRevenue selected Solana as the blockchain infrastructure for the initiative, citing its transaction speed, relatively low transaction costs and connections to institutional investors, asset managers and tokenized-asset providers. The company expects the network to help distribute ETDs to a broader range of financial institutions.

The potential benefit is not simply putting payment records on-chain. It is connecting an established supply-chain finance business with a different infrastructure for recording and transferring financial claims.

PrimeRevenue says the initial initiative connects its existing funding partners to on-chain capital markets, with access for eligible on-chain investors intended to expand over time. That wording is important: the announcement does not establish that ETDs are already freely tradable by the public, nor does it specify the eligibility criteria for prospective investors.

The company has also not disclosed a token name, token standard, initial issuance volume or firm launch schedule. The announcement therefore describes a strategic direction rather than a fully detailed, publicly accessible investment product. PR Newswire+1

Trade finance enters the real-world asset market

The initiative fits into the wider development of tokenized real-world assets (RWAs), in which blockchain tokens represent claims on financial or physical assets. Banks and asset managers have explored tokenization for instruments such as funds, bonds and other financial products, seeking improvements in transaction processing, recordkeeping and asset distribution.

McKinsey’s 2024 analysis of tokenized financial assets identified potential benefits including operational efficiency, greater transparency and new ways to create and distribute financial products. It also highlighted the challenges involved in moving from pilots to broader adoption. McKinsey

PrimeRevenue’s approach differs from tokenizing a conventional investment fund. Its starting point is a corporate payment obligation linked to trade and working capital. That could make the model relevant to businesses looking to improve supplier liquidity, as well as funders seeking short-duration exposure to corporate credit.

For suppliers, earlier access to funding can help cover payroll, inventory and operating costs while waiting for customers to pay. For funders, ETDs could offer another way to finance documented payment obligations. Whether the blockchain component materially improves those economics will depend on implementation costs, investor demand, credit assessment and the enforceability of the underlying claims.

The challenges behind on-chain working capital

Tokenized trade finance faces issues that blockchain transaction speed cannot solve by itself. Investors still need reliable information about the buyer’s creditworthiness, the authenticity of the obligation and the legal rights attached to the instrument.

The relationship between an ETD and its on-chain representation also matters. Participants must know how ownership is established, how duplicate claims are prevented, and what happens if a buyer defaults or a dispute arises. Custody arrangements, regulatory obligations and interoperability with existing financial systems will also influence adoption.

The Bank for International Settlements has identified potential efficiency and transparency benefits from tokenization, while warning that operational complexity, liquidity pressures and regulatory uncertainty remain relevant risks. Executive Summary+1

PrimeRevenue says it sees potential to tokenize additional working capital instruments as the program develops, but it has not announced a schedule for those expansions.

For GlobalFinTechEdge, the central development is the convergence of supply-chain finance and blockchain-based capital markets. The initiative could give corporate payment obligations a new route to institutional funding. Its significance will ultimately depend on whether the system moves beyond a technical representation of existing assets to deliver practical improvements in liquidity, reconciliation and access to finance.

Market Landscape

Tokenized trade finance sits at the intersection of working capital management, digital payments infrastructure and blockchain-based financial markets.

  • Real-world asset tokenization: Financial institutions are exploring blockchain representations of traditional assets, although broader adoption depends on legal certainty, investor protections and market infrastructure.
  • Supply-chain finance: Businesses may benefit from better visibility into payment obligations and additional funding channels, particularly when suppliers need cash before invoices or drafts mature.
  • Institutional DeFi: PrimeRevenue’s plan could connect established corporate credit instruments with blockchain-based capital markets without making those instruments automatically available to retail investors.
  • Competitive differentiation: PrimeRevenue brings an existing corporate network and funding relationships to the initiative. Its challenge will be demonstrating that tokenization improves on existing electronic trade finance processes.

McKinsey’s research on tokenized financial assets highlights potential operational efficiencies, but the BIS cautions that benefits must be weighed against regulatory, liquidity and operational risks. McKinsey+1
