Paymentus has reached Premier tier in Guidewire’s PartnerConnect program, expanding an integration that connects insurance billing, payments and claims disbursements with Guidewire’s core insurance applications. The partnership also brings Paymentus’ BillWallet digital wallet and Billeo AI-native service platform toward the Guidewire Marketplace, extending the relationship from payment processing into policyholder engagement.
Insurance technology is increasingly moving away from isolated billing, claims and payment systems toward connected digital journeys. Paymentus’ latest expansion within the Guidewire ecosystem reflects that shift, bringing payments, disbursements and AI-assisted policyholder servicing closer to the core systems insurers already use.
Paymentus (NYSE: PAY) announced that it has achieved Premier tier in the Guidewire PartnerConnect program. The companies have worked together since 2021, with Paymentus integrating its payment and disbursement capabilities with Guidewire PolicyCenter, BillingCenter and ClaimCenter.
The integration covers several points in the insurance money-movement lifecycle. Policyholders can use Paymentus for premium payments across digital wallets, cards, bank accounts, pay-by-text and traditional payment channels, while ClaimCenter integration supports outbound claims payments through eligible digital wallets and debit cards.
The distinction matters because insurance payments are closely tied to customer-service workflows. A premium payment is connected to a policy and billing account; a claims payment is connected to a specific loss and settlement process. Keeping those activities connected to core insurance systems can reduce the need for manual reconciliation and separate payment workflows.
Paymentus says its platform processes more than 790 million transactions annually and serves approximately 53 million consumers and businesses worldwide. It also says more than 30 Fortune 500 companies use its platform, which supports payments originating from 35 countries and multiple currencies and languages.
The company’s move deeper into the Guidewire ecosystem also illustrates the growing importance of embedded payments infrastructure in vertical enterprise software. Instead of requiring insurers to build separate connections to card networks, bank-payment rails and digital wallets, a payment orchestration layer can expose those capabilities through a common integration.
That model is becoming particularly relevant as insurers modernize legacy technology. McKinsey’s 2025 analysis of property and casualty insurance technology found that older core systems can create operational inefficiencies and difficulty delivering real-time customer experiences. The consultancy points to cloud-based, scalable systems, automation and connectivity across the insurance ecosystem as important elements of modernization.
Paymentus is also expanding beyond transaction processing. The company plans to bring BillWallet, its service-native digital wallet and persistent identity layer, and Billeo, its AI-native Service Commerce platform, to Guidewire Marketplace.
BillWallet is intended to maintain a persistent relationship between a policyholder, service providers and preferred payment methods. That creates a foundation for connecting billing, payments, claims and servicing rather than treating each interaction as a separate transaction.
Billeo takes the concept further by applying AI to policyholder interactions. Paymentus says the platform can interpret consumer intent, orchestrate workflows across enterprise systems and execute service activities through digital and assisted channels.
The approach reflects a broader insurance technology trend toward AI-supported customer journeys. McKinsey has argued that digital claims transformation works best when customer-facing channels, back-office processes, AI and the broader claims ecosystem are connected rather than implemented as isolated technologies.
Claims payments are an important part of that equation. Faster digital disbursement can remove one of the final physical steps in an otherwise digital claims process. Instead of issuing a paper check and waiting for delivery, insurers can potentially send funds through a claimant’s preferred digital payment method once the claim is approved.
The same principle applies to premium payments. Paymentus says its Guidewire integration can bring options including Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal and Venmo alongside cards, bank accounts and other channels into a single integration footprint.
For insurers, the technology question is therefore shifting from simply offering digital payments to orchestrating payments as part of the policyholder journey. That can include reminders, authentication, payment selection, fraud controls, transaction processing, reconciliation and post-payment servicing.
McKinsey research has previously found that digitizing insurance journeys can produce measurable improvements. Its analysis of auto-insurance claims estimated that digitization could increase customer satisfaction by 10 to 15 points, reduce claims-adjustment expenses by as much as 30%, and improve payment accuracy.
Paymentus says existing Guidewire implementations have produced NPS increases of up to 20 points, although that figure represents company-reported results rather than an independently verified industry benchmark.
Security and integration are another consideration. Paymentus says its cloud-native architecture uses tokenization and fraud-mitigation capabilities and is designed to reduce PCI scope. For insurers handling sensitive policyholder and payment information, these controls become particularly important as more transactions move into digital channels.
The Guidewire relationship also illustrates the competitive role of enterprise software ecosystems. Guidewire provides core systems for insurers, while specialist technology companies can add payment, fraud, customer-experience and AI capabilities through marketplace integrations. That allows insurers to modernize individual parts of the customer journey without necessarily replacing their core insurance platforms.
For the broader digital payments and fintech infrastructure market, the development demonstrates how payment capabilities are increasingly being embedded inside industry-specific software. The opportunity is no longer limited to consumer wallets or standalone payment gateways. Payment infrastructure can become part of the operating layer for insurance, utilities, healthcare, government and other industries where recurring payments and disbursements are central to the customer relationship.
Paymentus’ Premier-tier status gives the company a larger position within Guidewire’s partner ecosystem, while the planned Marketplace availability of BillWallet and Billeo broadens the partnership from payment execution toward persistent identity and AI-powered servicing.
The result is a more integrated technology stack spanning the insurance policy, billing account, payment method and claims transaction—an architecture increasingly aligned with insurers’ push toward cloud modernization and connected digital experiences.
Market Landscape
Insurance payment technology is converging with core insurance platforms, embedded finance, digital wallets and AI-powered servicing.
Guidewire’s ecosystem approach allows insurers to retain a core platform while adding specialized capabilities through validated integrations. Paymentus is using that model to connect inbound premium payments and outbound claims disbursements, while adding wallet and AI-based engagement capabilities.
The broader insurance market is also under pressure to modernize legacy technology. McKinsey’s 2025 research says P&C insurers increasingly need cloud-based systems capable of automation, real-time analytics and stronger ecosystem connectivity.
The next phase is likely to involve greater integration between payments and customer journeys. Claims organizations, for example, can combine digital claims reporting, automated case management, payment processing and real-time communication into a single workflow. McKinsey identifies this end-to-end digitization as a key component of modern claims transformation.
