NFS Capital Secures $250 Million Credit Facility From Fifth Third

NFS Capital has closed a $250 million warehouse credit facility with Fifth Third Bank, adding a new banking relationship and expanding the funding capacity behind its equipment finance business. The facility will support the company’s lending activity across the United States and Canada, including multi-vendor projects and business-critical equipment investments. With the new agreement, NFS Capital says its total bank facility capacity has reached $800 million, strengthening its ability to finance a broader range of commercial equipment transactions.

New banking relationship expands equipment finance capacity

The $250 million facility adds another source of funding for NFS Capital as it expands its equipment finance operations. The company provides financing to businesses across the United States and Canada, supporting equipment purchases and larger investment projects that may involve multiple vendors.

Warehouse credit facilities are commonly used by specialty finance companies to fund loans and leases before those receivables are repaid, refinanced or transferred into longer-term financing arrangements. They provide lenders with access to capital that can support new originations without relying entirely on their own balance sheets.

For equipment finance providers, access to this type of funding can be particularly important when transactions involve expensive machinery, multiple suppliers or complex project requirements. A dedicated credit facility can provide additional lending capacity while helping the finance company manage the timing between originating transactions and receiving repayments.

NFS Capital says the Fifth Third facility will support a wider range of transactions and strengthen its ability to serve customers, equipment vendors and manufacturer partners.

Total bank facility capacity reaches $800 million

The new agreement brings NFS Capital’s total bank facility capacity to $800 million, according to the company. That figure represents the combined capacity of its banking facilities, rather than the amount of financing already deployed or the company’s total assets.

The additional funding also complements NFS Capital’s existing banking relationships. Establishing a relationship with Fifth Third gives the company another institutional funding source as it develops its capital platform.

For equipment finance businesses, diversified funding relationships can help support lending continuity and provide flexibility as transaction sizes and customer requirements change. This is relevant for multi-vendor projects, where a business may need financing for several categories of equipment or investments coordinated across suppliers.

NFS Capital Chief Financial Officer Dana Calumby described the agreement as an important step in the company’s capital platform development. Calumby said the facility would provide greater flexibility to handle a broader range of transactions while maintaining the company’s existing approach to customer and partner service.

Equipment finance providers depend on funding access

Equipment financing is an important source of capital for businesses acquiring machinery, technology, vehicles and other operational assets. Rather than paying the full purchase price upfront, companies can use financing arrangements to spread costs over time while preserving cash for other business needs.

The market includes banks, independent finance companies, captive lenders associated with equipment manufacturers and specialist leasing providers. Independent finance companies often compete through their ability to structure transactions around specific equipment categories, business requirements and vendor relationships.

Funding capacity is central to this model. A finance provider needs sufficient capital to support new originations, particularly when customers require larger transactions or coordinated financing across multiple equipment suppliers.

NFS Capital’s latest facility is intended to expand that capacity. The company has not disclosed the interest rate, maturity, borrowing base requirements, collateral structure or other financial terms of its agreement with Fifth Third Bank. Those details would help clarify the facility’s cost and how much flexibility it provides under different lending conditions.

Capital access supports the next stage of expansion

The agreement highlights how specialty lenders use banking relationships to support growth without relying on a single funding channel. Reaching $800 million in total bank facility capacity gives NFS Capital a larger pool of potential financing resources, although actual lending activity will depend on facility availability, eligibility conditions and customer demand.

For equipment vendors and manufacturers, access to finance providers with adequate lending capacity can help make larger equipment purchases more accessible to business customers. For borrowers, the practical impact will depend on the financing products, approval processes and transaction structures NFS Capital makes available.

The Fifth Third agreement therefore represents an expansion of NFS Capital’s funding infrastructure rather than the announcement of a new lending product. Its longer-term significance will be measured by how effectively the company deploys that capacity across its customer and vendor network.

Market Landscape

Equipment finance companies operate in a capital-intensive market where access to reliable funding is essential to maintaining lending and leasing activity.

Several factors are shaping the sector:

  • Warehouse lending: Specialty finance companies use credit facilities to fund loans and leases, supporting new originations and working capital requirements.
  • Funding diversification: Multiple banking relationships can help finance providers manage liquidity needs and reduce dependence on a single source of capital.
  • Multi-vendor financing: Businesses increasingly need financing structures that accommodate complex projects involving different equipment suppliers.
  • Vendor finance partnerships: Relationships with manufacturers and distributors can help lenders reach businesses at the point of equipment purchase.
  • Capital efficiency: Finance providers must balance lending growth with funding costs, credit quality and risk management.

NFS Capital’s new facility fits into this broader funding model. The $250 million agreement increases its available bank facility capacity, but the commercial impact will depend on deployment, lending demand and the terms governing the facility.
