Bybit is expanding its cryptocurrency derivatives lineup with the launch of HYPEUSDT Options, giving traders a new way to hedge positions and speculate on one of the fastest-growing blockchain ecosystems.
The world’s second-largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume announced that options contracts tied to HYPE, the native token of the Hyperliquid blockchain, are now being introduced in phases. The launch reflects increasing demand for derivatives linked to emerging digital assets beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum.
As crypto markets mature, exchanges are broadening their options offerings to provide institutional and retail traders with more sophisticated risk management tools.
HYPE Options Roll Out in Phases
Bybit has scheduled the rollout of HYPEUSDT Options across multiple expiries.
The listing timetable includes:
- August 4, 2026: Contracts expiring on August 5 and August 7.
- August 6, 2026: Contracts expiring on August 8, August 9, August 14, August 21, August 28, and September 25.
- From August 7 onward: New HYPEUSDT Options contracts will be listed on an ongoing basis.
The staggered launch is designed to gradually build liquidity while offering traders a wider range of expiration dates.
Hyperliquid Continues Its Rapid Rise
The new derivatives product is tied to HYPE, the native cryptocurrency powering the Hyperliquid Layer-1 blockchain.
HYPE serves several functions within the ecosystem, including:
- Network staking.
- Governance participation.
- Gas fee payments.
- Trading fee discounts.
- Supporting on-chain perpetual futures and spot trading.
According to Bybit, HYPE’s market capitalization exceeded $14 billion as of August 5, 2026, making it one of the top 10 cryptocurrencies globally by market value.
Its rapid growth has helped position Hyperliquid as one of the most closely watched decentralized trading ecosystems in the digital asset industry.
Options Trading Expands Beyond Bitcoin
The addition of HYPE Options reflects a broader trend across cryptocurrency exchanges.
While Bitcoin and Ethereum continue to dominate crypto derivatives trading, exchanges are increasingly listing options and futures tied to high-growth altcoins as institutional participation expands and traders seek more diversified exposure.
Options contracts provide investors with greater flexibility by allowing them to hedge existing positions, speculate on market volatility, or implement more advanced trading strategies than traditional spot or perpetual futures markets.
For exchanges, expanding options products also represents an opportunity to attract higher-volume professional traders and strengthen derivatives liquidity.
Bybit Deepens Its Derivatives Strategy
The launch aligns with Bybit’s broader strategy of expanding its derivatives ecosystem around emerging blockchain projects with growing market capitalization and trading activity.
Rather than limiting derivatives to established cryptocurrencies, the exchange is increasingly targeting digital assets with active developer communities and expanding decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystems.
As competition intensifies among major crypto exchanges, broader derivatives coverage is becoming a key differentiator alongside liquidity, execution quality, and institutional trading services.
Why It Matters
Crypto derivatives have become one of the fastest-growing segments of the digital asset market, often generating significantly higher trading volumes than spot markets. As blockchain ecosystems mature, demand is increasing for options products that enable traders to manage volatility and build more sophisticated investment strategies.
By introducing HYPEUSDT Options, Bybit is positioning itself to capture growing interest in the Hyperliquid ecosystem while reinforcing its broader derivatives portfolio. The move also highlights the industry’s shift toward offering institutional-grade trading tools for a wider range of digital assets beyond the market’s largest cryptocurrencies.
If adoption of Layer-1 blockchain ecosystems continues to accelerate, options markets for emerging tokens like HYPE could become an increasingly important part of the crypto trading landscape.
