Dista Showcases AI-Powered Collections Tools at GFF 2026

Pune-based location intelligence company Dista used Global Fintech Fest 2026 in Mumbai to showcase AI-enabled tools for debt collection, loan verification and field sales, highlighting how Indian banks, NBFCs and MFIs are digitizing geographically distributed lending operations.

Dista targets India’s field-heavy lending operations with AI and location intelligence

Dista is positioning location intelligence and artificial intelligence as tools for improving some of the most operationally complex areas of financial services: debt collection, loan verification and geographically distributed sales.

The Pune-based company demonstrated Dista Collect and Dista Sales at Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2026, held September 9-11 at Mumbai’s Jio World Centre. The products are designed for banks, non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) and microfinance institutions (MFIs), with a focus on field operations and territory-level execution.

Rather than competing primarily at the consumer-facing payments layer, Dista is targeting the operational infrastructure behind lending. Its technology combines location data, workflow automation and AI capabilities to help financial institutions manage field teams, customer interactions and collection activity.

The timing reflects a wider shift in Indian financial technology, where digitization is moving beyond mobile payments and onboarding into the less visible operational processes that determine how lenders originate, monitor and recover loans.

Dista Collect brings collections workflows onto one platform

Dista Collect is positioned as a location-first debt collection CRM covering workflows from pre-delinquency through settlement, repossession and disposal.

The company says the platform brings together digital collections, telecalling, field collection and omnichannel communication into a single system. Its location intelligence capabilities are intended to help lenders organize field activity around customer and account locations, while AI and generative AI features are designed to support collection teams.

For lenders, the challenge is particularly pronounced when loan portfolios are geographically dispersed.

Traditional field collection requires organizations to coordinate large numbers of agents, customer visits, accounts, territories and changing repayment situations. That can create gaps between portfolio-level oversight and what happens on the ground.

A centralized collections platform can provide a common operating layer for those activities, while location intelligence can add geographic context to account prioritization and field-team scheduling.

Dista says Collect is designed to help institutions increase collections and reduce days past due (DPD). Those are company-stated product objectives rather than independently verified performance results.

The company’s presence at GFF also included a session led by Nishant Kumar, CPO and co-founder, focused on the need to unify debt-collection processes around the realities of India’s field-based recovery environment.

Location intelligence extends into loan verification

Dista’s technology proposition also extends upstream into lending operations.

At GFF 2026, CTO Deepak Garg demonstrated Dista’s solutions for vehicle and business loan verification, another area where geographic information can be important to underwriting and field operations.

Loan verification can involve confirming the location and characteristics of collateral, businesses or applicants before credit is approved. For lenders with portfolios distributed across cities and smaller towns, coordinating these checks requires structured field workflows and reliable reporting.

Location intelligence can help lenders connect these activities with geographic data rather than treating every verification task as an isolated field visit.

That creates a potential link between Banking Technology Innovation and operational risk management. Better structured verification does not automatically improve credit quality, but digital workflows can make field processes more traceable and provide lenders with more consistent operational data.

Dista Sales focuses on geographic execution

Dista Sales addresses another field-intensive part of lending: sales productivity.

The company describes it as a sales productivity suite providing territory coverage plans, location-based scheduling and real-time reporting. The objective is to give sales managers greater visibility into activity across geographic areas.

This is relevant for banks, NBFCs and MFIs that rely on distributed sales teams to acquire borrowers and merchants.

Location-based scheduling can help managers organize visits by territory and geography, while real-time reporting can provide a centralized view of execution.

The approach also reflects the evolution of Financial Technology beyond customer-facing applications. As lenders digitize origination and payments, operational teams increasingly need systems that connect customer, geographic and workforce information.

For lenders serving smaller businesses or consumers outside major metropolitan centers, these capabilities can become particularly relevant because sales and verification remain dependent on physical interactions even as other parts of the lending journey move online.

GFF highlights demand for lending infrastructure

Dista’s participation comes against a broader backdrop of rapid digitization across India’s financial sector.

The Reserve Bank of India has continued to emphasize digital financial infrastructure, responsible innovation and technology-enabled access to financial services. Its digital lending framework has also placed greater emphasis on transparency, customer protection and regulated entities retaining responsibility for lending activities. (rbi.org.in)

That regulatory environment makes operational control increasingly important for lenders adopting digital tools.

Technology used for collections and field sales must therefore fit into broader governance requirements around customer data, communications, outsourcing, auditability and responsible lending.

Dista’s platform strategy addresses a specific segment of that infrastructure: the execution layer connecting lenders with customers and field personnel.

AI adoption moves into back-office and field operations

The more significant technology development is the integration of AI and generative AI into these workflows.

Dista is not positioning AI solely as a conversational interface. Its Collect platform combines AI capabilities with location intelligence and collection workflows, while the company’s wider proposition connects geographic data with operational decision-making.

This reflects a broader trend in Banking Technology: AI is increasingly being embedded into existing systems rather than offered only as a standalone application.

For collections, potential applications include prioritizing accounts, assisting agents, summarizing customer interactions and identifying workflow patterns. For field sales, AI can potentially complement geographic scheduling and reporting.

The actual value depends on the quality of the underlying data, the accuracy of models and how lenders govern automated recommendations. Financial institutions also need to ensure that technology does not create inappropriate collection practices or discriminatory outcomes.

Dista’s GFF 2026 showcase therefore illustrates a more operational side of India’s fintech market.

The company’s products are aimed at the processes that happen after a financial institution has identified a customer: verifying borrowers, deploying sales teams, collecting repayments and managing geographically distributed portfolios.

As Indian lenders continue digitizing these workflows, location intelligence and AI could become increasingly integrated into the infrastructure supporting lending operations.

Market Landscape

India’s fintech market is increasingly moving beyond payments toward the digitization of lending, collections, verification and other financial-services workflows.

For banks, NBFCs and MFIs, the challenge is particularly pronounced where customer acquisition, verification and collections still depend on field teams. Platforms combining location intelligence with workflow management can provide a digital operating layer for these activities.

The opportunity is balanced by regulatory and governance requirements. The RBI’s digital lending framework emphasizes transparency, customer protection and accountability for regulated entities, meaning technology providers must operate within lenders’ broader compliance and risk-management frameworks.
