Verapath and GenTrust Launch VIRA, an AI-Native Wealth Management Platform

Wealth management firms have spent years assembling technology stacks from separate CRM, portfolio accounting, reporting, rebalancing and tax-management applications. Verapath and GenTrust are taking a different approach with VIRA, an AI-native wealth management platform designed to bring those functions into a single operating environment. The companies have formed a joint venture and made VIRA generally available to registered investment advisers (RIAs) and wealth management firms.

VIRA Targets the Fragmented Wealth Management Technology Stack

The wealth management technology stack has become increasingly sophisticated, but sophistication can come with a cost: advisors and operations teams often have to move data between multiple systems to build a complete picture of a client’s financial position.

Verapath and GenTrust say their new platform, VIRA, is designed to address that problem by combining several core wealth management functions within one system. The platform brings together capabilities spanning CRM, portfolio accounting, performance reporting, rebalancing, tax-loss harvesting and data management.

Rather than adding an AI assistant to an existing collection of applications, VIRA was designed around AI from the beginning. The companies say this architecture allows intelligence and automation to operate across workflows while maintaining a common data model and system of record.

For advisors, the practical objective is to reduce the amount of operational work required to assemble client information. Instead of reconciling information across multiple applications, users can work from a consolidated client view. Routine processes can be automated, while advisors and operations personnel can concentrate on activities requiring human judgment.

That architecture reflects a broader transition taking place across financial technology. AI is increasingly moving from standalone productivity tools into the underlying workflows of financial institutions. In wealth management, that could mean automating administrative processes, improving data consistency and providing advisors with more contextual information rather than simply generating text or answering questions.

The companies are also emphasizing data governance and security. Verapath describes itself as an AI governance and security provider, while GenTrust says it has operated the predecessor to VIRA internally for approximately a decade. That history is significant because wealth management platforms handle highly sensitive financial and personal information, making security, access controls, auditability and regulatory compliance central considerations for prospective users.

The joint-venture structure also gives VIRA a somewhat different starting point from a conventional wealthtech startup. GenTrust brings experience as an advisory firm and an existing internal deployment, while Verapath contributes its technology and AI governance capabilities.

The platform’s positioning puts it into a competitive market that already includes established wealth management technology providers and specialized applications. Platforms from companies such as Salesforce, SS&C Technologies, Envestnet and Orion Advisor Solutions illustrate the range of CRM, portfolio management, reporting and wealthtech infrastructure available to advisory firms.

VIRA’s differentiation is its attempt to consolidate these traditionally separate functions rather than simply connect them through integrations. That could reduce the number of interfaces advisors need to manage, although the value for individual firms will depend on implementation requirements, integration with existing custodians and financial systems, migration complexity and the platform’s ability to support specific compliance workflows.

For enterprise wealth management teams, the larger question is whether an AI-native architecture can deliver measurable operational improvements without compromising control. Consolidating systems can simplify data flows, but it also increases the importance of platform reliability, security and governance because more critical workflows reside within the same environment.

VIRA is now generally available to RIAs and wealth management firms. Its launch signals an ongoing shift in wealthtech toward integrated platforms in which AI is embedded into the operating layer rather than presented as another application sitting alongside the existing stack.

Market Landscape

Wealth management technology has historically evolved through specialized applications covering client relationship management, portfolio accounting, financial planning, reporting, trading, rebalancing and tax management. Integrations have connected those systems, but firms can still face duplicated records, reconciliation work and fragmented client data.

AI introduces an opportunity to redesign that architecture. Rather than using AI only for advisor-facing assistance, wealthtech providers are increasingly exploring automation at the workflow and infrastructure levels.

VIRA enters this environment with an AI-native, all-in-one model, while established platforms and specialized providers continue to offer modular approaches. For RIAs evaluating consolidation, the key considerations include data migration, custodian connectivity, cybersecurity, compliance controls, interoperability, workflow customization and the ability to maintain human oversight.

The competitive question will ultimately be whether consolidation produces enough operational efficiency and improved client visibility to justify changing established technology stacks.

Top Insights

  • VIRA combines CRM, portfolio accounting, reporting, rebalancing and tax-loss harvesting in one AI-native platform aimed at RIAs and wealth management firms.
  • Verapath and GenTrust formed a joint venture to commercialize technology GenTrust says has supported its advisory operations for roughly a decade.
  • The platform uses a shared system of record to reduce duplicated data entry, reconciliation work and fragmented client information across wealth management workflows.
