Uzum Named Among CNBC and Statista’s World’s Top Fintech Companies in Neobanking

Uzum has secured a place on CNBC and Statista’s World’s Top Fintech Companies list, earning recognition in the Neobanking category as the Uzbek fintech continues to expand its digital financial ecosystem.

The annual ranking is widely regarded as one of the financial technology industry’s leading global benchmarks, recognizing companies driving innovation through scalable digital financial services. The Neobanking category specifically highlights digital-first financial providers that offer banking and banking-like services without relying on traditional branch networks.

For Uzum, the recognition underscores the rapid growth of digital finance in Uzbekistan and the company’s ambition to build an integrated ecosystem that combines payments, banking, shopping, and financial services within a single platform.

Recognition Reflects Uzbekistan’s Digital Finance Growth

According to the company, its inclusion on the global list reflects the increasing adoption of digital financial services across Uzbekistan, where consumers are turning to mobile platforms for everyday payments, shopping, money transfers, and personal financial management.

Uzum says more than 6 million users have adopted its Uzum Bank cards, with the product becoming a gateway into the company’s broader digital ecosystem rather than serving solely as a payment method.

The ecosystem integrates financial products with everyday digital services, allowing users to shop online, make payments, access installment financing, transfer funds, and manage finances through a unified digital experience.

That ecosystem-first strategy mirrors approaches taken by Asian fintech leaders such as Grab, SeaMoney, and WeChat Pay, where financial services are increasingly embedded into broader consumer platforms rather than delivered as standalone banking products.

Ecosystems Are Reshaping Digital Banking

CEO and Founder Djasur Djumaev said the recognition validates the company’s ecosystem approach, where financial services are integrated into users’ daily digital lives instead of existing as separate banking products.

According to Djumaev, combining commerce, payments, and banking within a single platform simplifies access to financial services while allowing the company to continuously expand its product portfolio.

The strategy also creates new opportunities for businesses through embedded finance, enabling entrepreneurs to access financial tools directly within the digital ecosystem rather than through traditional banking channels.

Embedded finance has become one of the fastest-growing segments of the fintech industry, allowing payments, lending, insurance, and other financial services to be integrated directly into e-commerce platforms, marketplaces, and digital applications.

Ranked on More Than Scale Alone

The CNBC and Statista ranking evaluates fintech companies using a combination of financial performance and sector-specific key performance indicators.

Rather than measuring company size alone, the methodology also considers operational performance, growth trajectory, innovation, and digital maturity within each fintech category.

That approach recognizes companies capable of building scalable digital platforms while delivering meaningful user adoption and operational efficiency.

For emerging-market fintechs like Uzum, inclusion alongside established global players also signals growing international recognition of innovation originating outside traditional financial hubs.

Why It Matters

The recognition highlights the broader transformation underway in Central Asia’s digital economy.

As smartphone adoption rises and consumers increasingly embrace digital payments and online commerce, fintech companies across emerging markets are building integrated ecosystems that combine banking, commerce, and financial services into seamless digital experiences.

For Uzbekistan, Uzum’s inclusion among the world’s leading fintech companies demonstrates the country’s growing role in the global fintech landscape and the accelerating demand for digital-first financial services.

As competition in neobanking intensifies worldwide, ecosystem-based platforms that combine convenience, embedded finance, and everyday digital services are emerging as one of the industry’s most influential growth models.
