Two Prime Launches Onchain Bitcoin Lending Vault for Institutions

Institutional crypto lending is moving further onto blockchain infrastructure as Two Prime expands into onchain finance with a WBTC yield vault designed to connect bitcoin holders with institutional borrowers.

Two Prime Inc., a digital-asset financial services firm focused on institutional investors, has launched the Two Prime Axiom WBTC Yield Vault on Pareto. The product is designed to let holders of wrapped bitcoin (WBTC) lend their assets to institutional borrowers, including public companies, credit-rated organizations and financial institutions.

Two Prime said it seeded the vault with approximately $12 million of first-loss capital from its own balance sheet. The company describes the launch as an onchain extension of a lending strategy it has operated for two years, during which it says it originated more than 3,000 BTC in institutional loans without a default.

The architecture illustrates how onchain credit is increasingly combining decentralized financial infrastructure with conventional institutional controls. The vault operates through Pareto, an onchain private-credit infrastructure provider, while ICE Digital Trust provides custody and Copper Technologies facilitates smart-contract interactions.

Two Prime has also become a vault manager on Morpho, a decentralized lending and credit protocol. Together, these integrations place the product within an emerging financial stack where custody, credit underwriting and settlement can be coordinated through blockchain-based infrastructure while remaining targeted at professional investors.

The model addresses a persistent problem for institutional bitcoin holders: generating income from an asset that traditionally does not produce a native cash yield. Rather than relying on speculative token incentives, the vault seeks returns through lending to institutional counterparties.

The company is targeting an estimated 1.5%–2% APY on WBTC, although returns are not guaranteed and depend on market conditions. Access requires a minimum deposit of five WBTC, which Two Prime estimates at roughly $400,000.

For enterprise investors, the more important development is the infrastructure surrounding the yield strategy. Institutional adoption of onchain finance requires more than smart contracts. Qualified custody, counterparty controls, transparency and clearly defined risk parameters become critical when large balance sheets move onto blockchain networks.

The approach also differs from permissionless lending markets, where participants can often interact directly with decentralized liquidity pools. Two Prime is positioning its product around institutional borrowers and a managed credit strategy, while platforms such as Morpho provide programmable lending infrastructure.

As banks, asset managers and digital-asset firms explore tokenized finance, the convergence of traditional credit practices with blockchain settlement is becoming a significant area of financial infrastructure development. Two Prime’s launch is another example of that transition, with bitcoin serving as the collateral and liquidity layer.

Market Landscape

Onchain finance is evolving from predominantly retail-focused decentralized finance toward infrastructure designed to accommodate institutional capital, custody requirements and regulated financial workflows.

McKinsey & Company estimates that tokenized financial assets could approach $2 trillion by 2030 in a base-case scenario, demonstrating the potential scale of blockchain-based financial infrastructure.

For institutional participants, however, growth depends on solving practical issues around custody, compliance, liquidity, credit risk and interoperability. The Two Prime model combines these requirements with blockchain-based lending infrastructure rather than treating decentralized finance as a standalone ecosystem.
