OnePay Hires AMC Networks’ Patrick O’Connell as CFO Amid Rapid Growth Spurt
OnePay, the fast-growing consumer fintech serving millions across the U.S., has tapped Patrick O’Connell as its new Chief Financial Officer. O’Connell, currently EVP and CFO at AMC Networks, will officially join OnePay in March, bringing a track record of steering large-scale financial operations and corporate growth.
The move positions OnePay to further scale its offerings across banking, credit, payments, investing, and crypto—just four years after launch. During that time, the company has more than doubled its customer base, reflecting the growing appetite for digital-first, multi-product financial platforms.
“Patrick has spent his entire career helping companies grow through big moments,” said Omer Ismail, CEO of OnePay. “He’s a strategic thinker and proven operator—exactly the kind of CFO you want when building something that matters at scale.”
O’Connell expressed enthusiasm for the challenge, noting the fintech’s momentum and ambition. “The opportunity to help make money better for tens of millions of people and to build a category-defining business is enormous,” he said.
O’Connell brings extensive experience from the media and finance worlds. At AMC Networks, he led global financial operations across streaming services and networks. Earlier roles include senior strategy positions at CBS Corporation and BRANDED, and a 14-year tenure at Goldman Sachs advising top executives on major financial transactions.
The appointment underscores a broader trend in fintech: as companies diversify into multiple financial verticals—banking, payments, crypto, and investing—the need for seasoned CFOs capable of managing complex operations and long-term strategy is rising. OnePay’s latest hire signals the company is aiming not just for growth, but for market leadership.
With O’Connell on board, OnePay looks set to navigate its next growth phase with sharper financial strategy and deeper operational oversight—a move that rivals in the fintech space, like Chime and SoFi, will be watching closely.
