MindWave to Build Blockchain Platform for AQUAE Nature Credits

MindWave Innovations has signed a 12-month technology services agreement with Singapore-based AQUAE Holdings to build and operate AQUAEChain, a blockchain platform designed to manage insured ALCI Credits. The planned infrastructure will combine credit issuance and tracking with environmental monitoring, verification, marketplace functions and insurance-related capabilities.

MindWave Innovations is expanding its blockchain and digital-infrastructure business into environmental markets through a new agreement with Singapore-based AQUAE Holdings, which plans to use MindWave’s technology as the foundation for its AQUAEChain platform.

The 12-month technology services agreement calls for MindWave, a subsidiary of Apimeds Pharmaceuticals US, to design, develop, deploy and host AQUAEChain. The platform is intended to manage the complete lifecycle of an ALCI Credit, covering issuance, verification, tracking, transfer and retirement.

The arrangement reflects a broader development in financial technology: using blockchain infrastructure and digital registries to create more traceable markets for environmental and nature-based assets.

Under the agreement, MindWave will receive software development and technology service fees. The contract also provides for an allocation equivalent to 20% of the total ALCI Credits issued and outstanding on the AQUAEChain network, calculated quarterly using the MindChain issuance ledger.

AQUAE and MindWave are taking different roles in the planned ecosystem. AQUAE will oversee the methodology for ALCI Credits, branding, business development, partnerships and ecosystem engagement. MindWave will provide the underlying technology infrastructure and operate the platform’s technical environment.

AQUAEChain is being designed as more than a blockchain-based credit registry. The platform is expected to combine an ALCI Credits registry, monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) data management, marketplace capabilities and insurance-related features.

The MRV component is particularly important for environmental assets. AQUAEChain is expected to collect and analyze project information from satellite and ground-based sources, creating a digital record that can be associated with individual credits.

The marketplace component would allow ALCI Credits to be listed, traded and settled between AQUAE and its counterparties.

Blockchain’s role is primarily focused on maintaining the transaction and issuance record. According to MindWave, every issued and outstanding credit will be recorded on the MindChain issuance ledger, allowing participants to trace credits from their initial issuance through subsequent transfers and eventual retirement.

That traceability is increasingly relevant to digital environmental markets, where participants need to understand the origin, status and history of assets. A digital ledger can provide a common transaction record, although the quality of any environmental credit market ultimately also depends on the methodology, verification processes and underlying project data used to create those assets.

This makes the division of responsibilities between the two companies significant. MindWave is supplying the technology layer, while AQUAE controls the credit methodology and market ecosystem.

The arrangement also illustrates how embedded financial infrastructure is expanding beyond conventional banking and payments. Platforms for tokenized assets, digital securities and environmental markets increasingly require the same underlying capabilities: identity, issuance, transaction records, data verification, settlement and auditability.

For fintech providers, these markets create opportunities to build specialized infrastructure rather than operate the assets themselves.

MindWave said the AQUAE engagement represents an expansion of its technology business into environmental and sustainability-focused markets. The company will host AQUAEChain in a cloud environment designed for availability and operational continuity, with administrative, technical and physical safeguards intended to protect platform data and transaction records.

The initial agreement took effect on September 14, 2026, with development and delivery linked to project milestones. During the 12-month term, MindWave will provide hosting, infrastructure maintenance, technical escalation support and embedded engineering assistance.

The companies expect to potentially transition to a five-year continuing technology services arrangement after the initial period, although that extension remains subject to mutual agreement and definitive documentation.

The commercial structure also gives MindWave an economic interest in the network through the proposed allocation of ALCI Credits. That differs from a conventional software-services relationship, where the technology provider is typically compensated through fixed development and recurring infrastructure fees.

The model could align the technology provider more closely with the growth of the platform, but it also links part of the commercial arrangement to the volume of credits issued and outstanding.

For the broader fintech market, the development sits at the intersection of blockchain financial technology, digital assets, embedded finance infrastructure and sustainability-focused financial markets.

It also comes as financial institutions and technology companies explore how distributed ledgers can support new asset classes. Major technology providers such as Microsoft, Google and Amazon are building cloud infrastructure for blockchain and data-intensive applications, while financial institutions continue experimenting with tokenization and digital asset infrastructure.

AQUAEChain’s planned architecture takes a more specialized approach, combining environmental data and verification with a marketplace and digital ledger.

Whether that model can scale will depend on factors beyond the underlying technology, including adoption by counterparties, the credibility of ALCI Credit methodologies, verification quality, regulatory treatment and liquidity.

For now, the agreement gives AQUAE a dedicated technology provider for its planned ecosystem-finance platform while giving MindWave an entry point into a growing category of digital environmental infrastructure.

Market Landscape

Environmental assets are becoming increasingly digitized as financial technology providers explore blockchain registries, tokenization, digital marketplaces and automated verification. The challenge is connecting digital ownership and transaction records with reliable real-world environmental data.

AQUAEChain’s proposed architecture combines these elements into one platform, positioning the project closer to specialized financial-market infrastructure than a standalone blockchain application.

For GlobalFinTechEdge, the development is relevant to Blockchain Financial Technology, Digital Assets, Embedded Finance Infrastructure and Banking Technology Innovation, particularly where digital ledgers intersect with emerging asset classes.
