AIRA Factoring Hits THB 1 Billion in Digital Lending

Thailand-based AIRA Factoring Public Company Limited has surpassed THB 1 billion in cumulative lending transactions through its digital supply chain financing platform, developed in collaboration with NEC Thailand and TASConnect. The milestone highlights growing interest in digitized working capital financing, which helps businesses manage cash flow and gives suppliers access to funding linked to commercial transactions. The companies say the platform is designed to improve financing workflows, increase supply chain visibility, and support the integration of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations into financing.

Why Supply Chain Financing Matters for Thai Businesses

Supply chain finance helps companies unlock working capital tied up in unpaid invoices and commercial transactions. Rather than waiting for buyers to settle invoices on standard payment terms, eligible suppliers may be able to access financing earlier, helping them cover payroll, inventory, transport, and other operating costs.

The need extends beyond Thailand. The International Finance Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank Group, has identified a substantial global trade finance gap that disproportionately affects businesses in emerging markets. In an April 2025 interview, IFC cited an estimated global trade finance gap of US$2.5 trillion, highlighting the difficulty some businesses face obtaining the financing needed to participate in supply chains.

Digitizing financing workflows can help address some of the operational barriers. Electronic records, connected financial systems, and automated processing can reduce manual handling and improve visibility into transactions. However, access to a digital platform alone does not guarantee credit approval or eliminate the underlying risks associated with lending.

For AIRA Factoring, exceeding THB 1 billion in cumulative transactions provides an indication of activity on the platform. The company has not disclosed the number of participating businesses, average transaction size, default rates, or the precise period over which the milestone was achieved. Those figures would help clarify the scale and financial performance of the platform.

NEC Thailand and TASConnect’s Role

The collaboration brings together three distinct capabilities. AIRA Factoring provides the financing business, NEC Thailand contributes technology and systems integration expertise, and TASConnect supplies the digital supply chain finance solution.

The partnership builds on an earlier agreement between AIRA Factoring and NEC Thailand. In January 2025, the companies announced the launch of their digital supply chain financing platform, identifying TASConnect as part of the technology stack.

NEC’s broader financial technology offering describes the platform as a way to integrate financial systems, streamline credit management, automate supply chain finance processes, and improve visibility into cash flow and working capital.

The latest milestone suggests that the initiative has progressed beyond its initial launch into a phase of transaction activity. Yet cumulative lending volume is only one measure of adoption. The platform’s longer-term significance will depend on repeat usage, the range of suppliers served, the speed of financing decisions, and whether operational improvements translate into better business outcomes.

AIRA Factoring CEO Akrawit Sooksai said the company anticipates continued expansion, with approximately 7% growth. The announcement does not specify the exact metric, baseline, or period associated with that forecast, so the figure should not be interpreted as a clearly defined projection of lending volume without further clarification.

ESG and the Future of Digital Supply Chain Finance

The companies also position the platform as a way to incorporate environmental, social, and governance considerations into financing frameworks. In principle, digital systems can make it easier to collect relevant supplier information, monitor eligibility criteria, and connect financing decisions with sustainability objectives.

This is increasingly relevant to supply chains in which large buyers face expectations to assess the environmental and social practices of their suppliers. The IFC has also highlighted the potential for supply chain finance to support stronger environmental and social performance across value chains.

Still, the announcement does not explain which ESG indicators are currently measured, whether financing terms vary according to sustainability performance, or how reported outcomes are independently verified. These details will matter in determining whether ESG integration leads to measurable improvements or primarily supports reporting and monitoring.

The milestone is expected to be highlighted at Digital Converge 2026, providing an opportunity for the companies to present the initiative and its implications for digital finance in the region.

For Thailand’s financial technology sector, the development illustrates how financing providers and technology partners are attempting to modernize business lending through connected platforms. Crossing THB 1 billion is a meaningful operational milestone, but evidence on supplier participation, financing access, efficiency gains, and credit performance will offer a fuller picture of its impact.

Market Landscape

Digital supply chain financing is developing at the intersection of SME lending, financial infrastructure, and enterprise digitization.

  • SME financing access: Smaller businesses often face barriers to obtaining affordable working capital, particularly when they lack collateral or extensive credit histories.
  • Digital lending infrastructure: Connected platforms can streamline financing workflows, improve transaction visibility, and reduce manual processing.
  • Supply chain resilience: Earlier access to funds can help eligible suppliers manage operating expenses and respond to changing buyer demand.
  • Sustainable finance: Digital records can support ESG data collection, monitoring, and reporting when backed by clearly defined criteria.
  • Regional competition: Financial institutions and technology providers across Southeast Asia are exploring digital financing models to improve SME access and operational efficiency.

The IFC reported that micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises account for more than 90% of firms and an average of 60–70% of employment worldwide. It also estimated a global MSME financing gap of approximately US$5.7 trillion in its May 2024 announcement.

Against this backdrop, AIRA Factoring’s milestone provides a useful indicator of platform activity. Its long-term impact will depend on whether the system expands financing access, supports repeat transactions, manages credit risk, and delivers measurable benefits to suppliers and buyers.
