Adolfson & Peterson Construction Appoints Carla Chiorazzo as CFO to Strengthen Financial Operations

Adolfson & Peterson Construction (AP), a U.S.-based construction management and contracting firm, has appointed Carla Chiorazzo as its new chief financial officer. The leadership appointment comes as construction companies continue investing in stronger financial controls, forecasting capabilities, and digital finance operations to navigate rising project complexity and evolving market conditions.

Adolfson & Peterson Construction (AP) has named Carla Chiorazzo as chief financial officer, adding an executive with more than two decades of finance and operational leadership experience to oversee the company’s accounting and financial strategy.

In the role, Chiorazzo will lead AP’s finance and accounting organization while working with business leaders to strengthen project controls, improve financial forecasting, and enhance the reporting systems used to support operational decision-making.

The appointment reflects a broader trend across the construction industry, where finance leaders are increasingly expected to serve as strategic partners rather than traditional accounting executives. As contractors manage larger, more complex projects, CFOs are playing a greater role in capital allocation, risk management, digital transformation, and data-driven planning.

“Carla understands that finance is strongest when it works alongside the business,” AP Chief Executive Officer Brad Hendrickson said in a statement announcing the appointment. He added that her experience helping organizations scale while improving financial transparency and operational discipline made her well suited for the position.

Before joining AP, Chiorazzo served as chief financial officer at Conti Federal, a construction and design-build company focused on federal projects. Earlier in her career, she was vice president of finance, shared services at PAE, where she supported finance operations for more than 15,000 employees across a business portfolio valued at approximately $3 billion.

Her experience spans financial planning, project controls, working capital management, enterprise reporting, and finance process modernization. These capabilities have become increasingly important as construction firms adopt cloud-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, predictive analytics, and real-time project management technologies to improve financial visibility.

According to AP, Chiorazzo will focus on strengthening project forecasting and delivering clearer financial insights that enable operational teams to make faster and more informed business decisions.

In a statement, Chiorazzo said AP’s people-focused culture and industry reputation influenced her decision to join the company. She added that she plans to build strong relationships across the organization while helping teams leverage timely financial information to support growth.

The appointment comes at a time when the construction sector faces continued pressure from labor shortages, fluctuating material costs, and tighter project margins. These challenges have increased demand for integrated financial systems capable of providing real-time visibility into project performance, cash flow, procurement, and operational risk.

Research from Gartner shows that finance organizations continue to expand investments in automation, advanced analytics, and digital finance transformation to improve forecasting accuracy and decision support. Meanwhile, Deloitte has identified finance modernization as a strategic priority for organizations seeking greater operational resilience and long-term profitability.

For construction companies, these investments increasingly involve integrating financial management platforms with project management software, procurement systems, and workforce planning tools. Major enterprise technology providers such as Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, and Autodesk continue to expand cloud-based solutions designed to connect financial operations with project execution.

While AP’s announcement focuses on executive leadership, it also highlights the growing importance of financial technology and enterprise data management in the construction industry. As organizations pursue larger and more complex infrastructure, commercial, and institutional projects, finance leaders are expected to provide the strategic insights needed to balance growth with disciplined execution.

Chiorazzo’s appointment positions AP to continue strengthening its financial operations as construction firms increasingly rely on digital tools, integrated reporting, and data-driven decision-making to remain competitive in an evolving market.

Market Landscape

Construction companies are accelerating investments in finance modernization as digital transformation reshapes project delivery. Cloud ERP platforms, AI-assisted forecasting, predictive analytics, and integrated project controls are becoming essential technologies for improving financial transparency, managing risk, and supporting long-term business growth. Finance executives are increasingly central to these enterprise transformation initiatives.
