Fortress Appoints Luna and Biancheri to Lead European Credit Strategy

Fortress Investment Group has announced two major leadership appointments aimed at advancing its investment strategies in Europe. Giovanni Luna joins as Managing Director, Head of Origination, Europe, while Niccolò Biancheri has been promoted to Head of Corporate Credit, Europe. Both will be based in London and will play critical roles in driving the firm’s growth across asset classes.

Leadership Announcements

  • Giovanni Luna – Head of Origination, Europe
With 25 years of finance experience, Luna brings a deep network and a track record in executing complex deals across corporate credit, real estate, direct lending, and illiquid receivables. Most recently, he served as Head of Capital Markets in Europe at King Street Capital Management.
  • Niccolò Biancheri – Head of Corporate Credit, Europe
A Fortress veteran since 2016, Biancheri steps up from his previous role as Deputy Head. His experience spans distressed credit, leveraged finance, and structured products, with prior roles at Deutsche Bank and Societe Generale.

Strategic Vision

Francesco Colasanti, Head of Europe, Co-Head of Non-Performing Loans:
“Giovanni’s expertise will be instrumental in sourcing and structuring deals across strategies. He will work closely with Nicco to accelerate our growth in Europe.”

Brian Stewart, Global Co-Head of Corporate Credit:
“Nicco’s promotion reflects his strong contributions to our team. Together with Giovanni, he will help expand our relationships across corporate and sponsor channels.”

Expanding Origination and Private Credit

  • Cross-Asset Focus
Luna will cover legal assets, non-performing loans, illiquid corporate financings, and real estate—further strengthening Fortress’s global origination team.
  • Recent Talent Growth
The announcement follows Fortress’s February 2025 hiring of Eric Hartman and Bill Tefft as Directors in Private Credit Origination, signaling a broader investment in origination capabilities.

Fortress in Europe

Fortress continues to scale its European presence with a broad set of investment strategies that include:

  • Corporate and asset-based credit
  • Real estate debt and equity
  • Non-performing loans
  • Legal assets and intellectual property
  • Private equity and net lease investments

With the strategic appointments of Giovanni Luna and Niccolò Biancheri, Fortress Investment Group reaffirms its commitment to expanding its leadership and capabilities across the European credit landscape. These moves reflect the firm’s dedication to innovation, partnership, and long-term value creation in global markets.
