Mesh Launches AI-Powered Crypto Transactions, Ushering in Era of Agentic Commerce

At TOKEN2049 this week, Mesh, a leading crypto payments network, showcased a glimpse of the future of “agentic commerce,” demonstrating an AI agent completing a real-world crypto transaction. In the demo, the agent bought dog food from a retailer using stablecoins—without any human intervention.

This isn’t just a flashy demo. It underscores Mesh’s ambition to be the connective layer for programmable payments, linking wallets, exchanges, and merchants into a seamless experience. By orchestrating payments across all parties, the platform allows AI agents to securely transact on behalf of users, marking a notable step beyond traditional e-commerce or manual crypto transfers.

With Mesh AI (MAI), users can connect their wallets and, with a simple prompt, let an AI agent handle everything from account funding to checkout. The platform also supports programmatic wallet creation, broadening the potential for autonomous transactions far beyond the dog food demo.

“Agentic commerce is no longer a thought experiment – it’s here,” said Bam Azizi, Co-Founder and CEO at Mesh. “Our technology is the unifying infrastructure that will empower agents to harness the power of this new financial model.”

Mesh’s development aligns with Google’s new Agent Payments Protocol (AP2), which allows AI agents to securely transact for users across platforms. By integrating with over 300 services, Mesh positions itself at the forefront of the growing digital asset economy, offering an alternative to legacy financial systems. In contrast to traditional banking, crypto’s programmable nature makes it ideally suited for autonomous transactions, enabling AI agents to initiate, authorize, and complete purchases with speed and flexibility.

As AI and crypto increasingly converge, Mesh’s demonstration signals a broader shift toward intelligent, automated commerce—where transactions are faster, borderless, and potentially more secure than ever before. For retailers and fintech platforms, the implications are clear: agentic commerce isn’t a futuristic concept anymore; it’s quietly reshaping the payments landscape.
