Airwallex Expands in Indonesia, Acquires Majority Stake in PT Skye Sab

Airwallex, a global business banking innovator, has acquired a majority stake in PT Skye Sab Indonesia, a Category 1 licensed PJP (Penyedia Jasa Pembayaran) provider. The move strengthens Airwallex’s presence in Southeast Asia and offers Indonesian merchants a gateway to global markets.

The acquisition allows local businesses to leverage Airwallex’s global financial infrastructure for cross-border payments, international expansion, and streamlined financial management. It also positions Airwallex to facilitate the entry of international companies into Indonesia, further integrating the country into its regional ecosystem.

This expansion comes on the heels of Airwallex’s US$330 million Series G raise, which valued the company at US$8 billion—a 30% increase over its previous round in just six months. The funding will support the company’s growth in key markets, including Indonesia, while advancing its AI roadmap. Upcoming initiatives include AI agents designed to optimize financial workflows and enhance the speed, accuracy, and efficiency of cross-border operations.

“As AI lowers software costs, infrastructure and data become the ultimate differentiator,” said Jack Zhang, co-founder and CEO of Airwallex. “Airwallex connects the full spectrum of a customer’s financial operations—money in, money out, and everything in between—giving our agents the contextual data to execute with precision.”

Tapping Indonesia’s Growth Potential
Indonesia, home to over 64 million SMEs, represents a critical growth opportunity. The nation’s 2045 Digital Vision aims to transform it into a global digital leader, enhancing innovation, economic resilience, and access to services. Airwallex plans to empower local businesses to scale internationally, combining its global infrastructure with PT Skye Sab Indonesia’s local payment capabilities.

Arnold Chan, APAC General Manager at Airwallex, emphasized, “This acquisition marks a significant milestone as we continue building a truly global financial platform. Indonesia’s fast-growing economy and vibrant SME sector present immense opportunities. Our goal is to tackle the financial challenges faced by businesses in Indonesia, empowering them to expand beyond borders.”

Momentum Across APAC and Globally
Airwallex’s regional growth is notable: in Southeast Asia, it reported a 108% year-on-year revenue increase and a 94% rise in transaction volume for Q3 2025. Globally, the company surpassed US$1 billion in annualized revenue and US$235 billion in transaction volume, reflecting strong demand for its secure, cost-effective, and scalable financial solutions.

The Indonesia acquisition underscores Airwallex’s commitment to providing integrated financial infrastructure that enables businesses across APAC and beyond to navigate the complexities of global finance with confidence.
