BitMine Appoints New CEO and Board Members to Expand Ethereum Financial Leadership

BitMine Immersion Technologies, Inc. (NYSE AMERICAN: BMNR) has announced Chi Tsang as its new CEO, along with three independent board members: Robert Sechan, Olivia Howe, and Jason Edgeworth. These appointments aim to accelerate BitMine’s growth as a key player connecting traditional capital markets with the Ethereum ecosystem.

A leadership shakeup for blockchain growth
Chi Tsang steps in as CEO with a mandate to advance BitMine’s vision of becoming a leading financial institution in the Ethereum ecosystem. He joins a newly expanded board designed to bring expertise in technology, DeFi, and financial services.

“The transformation and innovation now facing Wall Street through blockchain and Ethereum mirror the explosion of opportunity that mobile phones and the internet unleashed on telecoms and technology in the 1990s,” Tsang said. “With its substantial Ethereum holdings and credibility with both Wall Street and the Ethereum ecosystem, BitMine is positioned to become a leading financial institution.”

Strategic board additions
The three new independent board members bring extensive experience across finance and technology:

  • Robert Sechan, founder of NewEdge Capital Group, praised the company’s vision, noting his long-term perspective on emerging secular stories including wireless technology, Bitcoin, and AI.
  • Olivia Howe, Chief Legal Officer at RigUp, highlighted her excitement to support BitMine’s continued growth and strategic positioning.
  • Jason Edgeworth emphasized his commitment to driving long-term shareholder value and strengthening BitMine’s role as Ethereum infrastructure partner.

Chairman Thomas “Tom” Lee said, “Our new CEO and Board members bring a unique blend of experience, insight, and leadership across technology, DeFi, and financial services, enabling BitMine to further position itself as the bridge between traditional capital markets and the supercycle Ethereum ecosystem.”

Looking ahead
BitMine has evolved from a relatively obscure company into the world’s largest holder of Ethereum DAT. With its expanded leadership team, the company is poised to leverage its holdings and strategic insights to capitalize on the growing institutional and retail adoption of Ethereum. Former CEO Jonathan Bates expressed confidence in the new leadership, citing the momentum built during his tenure and the company’s NYSE listing milestone.

As blockchain and DeFi continue to disrupt traditional finance, BitMine’s leadership reshuffle positions the company to play a central role in bridging digital assets with conventional investment markets.
