Binance bStocks Surpass $1B in Tokenized Equity Assets

Binance says its bStocks tokenized U.S. securities have surpassed $1 billion in assets under management (AUM), reaching the milestone about four months after launching on June 11, 2026. The exchange reports more than $40 billion in cumulative trading volume and nearly 100 listed tokenized assets as of October 15. The growth highlights increasing interest in blockchain-based representations of traditional securities, while raising important questions about investor protections, redemption arrangements, market access and the risks of using tokenized equities as trading collateral.

Binance bStocks Push Tokenized Equities Past $1B

The milestone comes as crypto platforms explore ways to bring traditional financial assets onto blockchain networks, where they can potentially be traded, transferred and used in decentralized finance (DeFi) applications. Binance says bStocks can trade around the clock, move between exchange accounts and wallets, and be converted into direct stock holdings at a 1:1 ratio.

According to data linked by Binance from Dune Research, bStocks crossed $1 billion in AUM roughly four months after launch. Binance describes the achievement as the fastest a tokenized equity product has reached that level. The figures are company-reported and should be understood in the context of the product’s specific structure and market.

Trading activity extends beyond the launch

Binance reported more than $40 billion in cumulative bStocks trading volume since June 11, averaging over $300 million per day during the period. The product range has also expanded from five assets at launch to nearly 100, according to the company.

Binance further said that $6 billion had been converted between direct stock positions and bStocks at 1:1 parity since launch, without requiring a broker transfer or waiting for regular market hours. The announcement does not detail the full legal and operational process behind those conversions, including eligibility, settlement arrangements or jurisdictional restrictions.

The distinction matters because tokenized equities are not all structured alike. Some products provide a tokenized claim or exposure linked to a security, while others may involve an intermediary, special-purpose vehicle or contractual arrangement. Binance describes bStocks as fully backed by the underlying securities and says each token can be redeemed into the security itself rather than simply its cash value. Investors should review the applicable terms to understand the legal rights associated with a particular token.

Moving equities onto blockchain networks

Tokenization represents an asset or an associated right through a digital token recorded on a blockchain. In financial markets, proponents argue that this can make assets easier to transfer between compatible systems and enable them to interact with blockchain-based applications.

For bStocks, Binance’s pitch is that tokenized stock exposure can operate outside the traditional U.S. equity trading schedule. The company said only 38% of its bStocks trading volume occurred during regular U.S. market hours in July, compared with 89.2% for conventional U.S. equities.

That comparison points to activity outside standard exchange hours, but it does not by itself establish equivalent liquidity or price discovery. When underlying markets are closed, token prices may respond to news, changes in crypto-market conditions or limited order-book depth. Differences between token prices and the underlying security can therefore become important, particularly during volatile periods.

Binance also cited broader growth in tokenized equities. Its research said on-chain transfers of tokenized stocks exceeded $100 billion in the third quarter of 2026, more than 16 times the $6 billion recorded in the first quarter. The company further reported that tokenized equities’ market capitalization had grown to more than $3 billion by late September.

These figures describe different measures: trading volume, transfer volume, AUM and market capitalization are not interchangeable. Transfer totals may include repeated movements of the same assets, while market capitalization estimates the value of tokens in circulation. Together, however, the metrics indicate that tokenized equities are attracting activity beyond initial product launches.

DeFi and collateral use broaden the product’s role

Binance’s data also suggests that some users are using bStocks beyond spot trading. The company said DeFi deployment, measured through total value locked, reached 11.2% in early October—about 3.8 percentage points above the rate it reported for comparable tokenized equities.

It also reported that borrowing against deposited bStocks collateral rose to 46.2% by September 10, up from 5.5% at the end of June. Separately, Binance said 58.5% of early bStocks users were also trading perpetual futures and/or direct equities on the platform in data from the end of July.

These figures suggest that bStocks may be functioning as part of broader trading and financing strategies, although they do not establish how representative those users are of the overall market.

Last month, Binance expanded collateral support to all eligible users, allowing supported bStocks to be used as margin for futures trading. The company says users can borrow quote assets to build exposure with up to five-times leverage, subject to the product’s conditions, or use the same token as collateral and as a hedge for a futures position.

Collateral use can make an asset more capital-efficient, but it also introduces additional risks. If prices move against a position, users can face margin calls, forced liquidation and losses that may exceed their expectations. The ability to pledge a token also depends on platform rules and does not mean every lender, exchange or DeFi protocol will accept it.

Market access still depends on structure and safeguards

The broader tokenization market faces questions about custody, ownership rights, transfer restrictions, settlement reliability and the regulatory treatment of tokenized securities. Round-the-clock blockchain transfers do not necessarily mean the underlying securities trade continuously, nor do they remove the need for a legally enforceable redemption process.

Investors also need to distinguish the token’s on-chain functionality from the rights and protections attached to the underlying asset. The relevant issuer, custody arrangement, redemption terms and geographic eligibility can all affect the product’s practical use.

Binance’s reported $1 billion milestone shows that bStocks has gained scale quickly by its own measures. Its next test will be whether that activity translates into sustained liquidity, reliable conversions and responsible collateral use across market conditions. Tokenization may expand how securities are accessed and deployed, but its long-term role in financial markets will depend on the legal and operational infrastructure supporting the tokens as much as on their blockchain functionality.

Market Landscape

Tokenized equities sit at the intersection of traditional securities markets, cryptocurrency exchanges and blockchain-based financial services. Their appeal comes from the potential to enable digital transfers, extended trading access and the use of tokenized assets in collateral and DeFi applications.

Three trends are shaping the sector:

  • Around-the-clock access: Crypto platforms are extending trading opportunities beyond conventional stock-market hours, although liquidity and price discovery can differ when underlying markets are closed.
  • Collateral utility: Tokenized securities are increasingly being positioned as assets that can support borrowing, margin and hedging strategies, creating additional risks alongside potential capital efficiency.
  • Convergence of financial infrastructure: Exchanges are bringing securities exposure, crypto trading and blockchain-based financial services into connected environments, increasing the importance of custody, redemption and regulatory safeguards.

Binance’s bStocks milestone illustrates the commercial potential of this model, but AUM and transfer volumes alone do not establish market depth, investor protection or sustainable adoption. Competition will depend on the quality of the underlying asset arrangements, redemption mechanisms, platform liquidity and the ability to operate within applicable securities regulations.
