Crypto users are increasingly looking beyond digital assets, creating a new challenge for platforms that have historically focused on cryptocurrency markets: helping users understand a wider financial landscape. MEXC is responding with Opportunity Compass, a five-season market education initiative designed to explain stocks, commodities, ETFs, macroeconomic trends, tokenized assets and other markets as the boundaries between traditional finance and crypto continue to narrow.
The expansion of crypto into mainstream financial markets is creating a knowledge gap alongside the industry’s push for greater access.
MEXC’s new Opportunity Compass initiative is designed around that problem. The global crypto exchange says the program will provide structured education on traditional and digital markets, with content covering asset classes, macroeconomic forces, emerging financial models and investment risk.
The initiative is scheduled to roll out from September through December 2026, comprising five seasons and 30 episodes.
The timing reflects a broader change in how digital-asset users interact with financial markets. According to research from MEXC and CoinGecko, trading volumes for traditional financial assets on crypto exchanges reached $1.45 trillion during the first half of 2026, almost ten times the volume recorded throughout 2025.
The research points to a growing overlap between crypto-native trading infrastructure and traditional-market exposure. However, increased access does not necessarily mean users possess the financial knowledge required to assess different assets, market cycles or risk.
MEXC’s own survey illustrates that tension.
The exchange reports that 53.7% of respondents had already invested in stocks. Among respondents who had not used stock investment products, 43.1% identified insufficient investment knowledge as a significant barrier. Among former stock-product users, 48.3% cited limited investment knowledge as one reason they stopped participating.
Among existing stock investors, 44% said individual stock-price movements influenced their participation, while 34% identified the AI boom as a major driver.
The numbers are based on MEXC’s user research and should therefore be viewed as a snapshot of its surveyed audience rather than a representation of all crypto investors.
Crypto Users Are Crossing Asset-Class Boundaries
The movement of crypto users toward stocks and other traditional assets is part of a larger convergence in financial technology.
Crypto exchanges have increasingly expanded beyond spot cryptocurrency trading into derivatives, stablecoins, tokenized securities and other financial products. Meanwhile, traditional financial institutions have been experimenting with blockchain-based settlement, tokenized funds and digital representations of securities.
The result is a market in which users can encounter familiar financial concepts through unfamiliar technology.
A stock, ETF or gold exposure may increasingly appear alongside Bitcoin and stablecoins in a digital interface. Tokenized assets can also introduce questions around ownership, custody, settlement, liquidity and legal structure that are different from conventional crypto tokens.
That makes education more complicated than simply explaining how to trade.
Users need to understand why an asset has value, what drives its price, how macroeconomic conditions affect it and what risks are associated with its structure.
That is the premise behind Opportunity Compass.
Five Seasons Move From Market Basics to Emerging Finance
MEXC says the program is intended to avoid product-specific recommendations and instead provide a framework for interpreting markets.
The first season, See the Global Opportunities, focuses on the broader financial landscape and the relationships between different markets.
Season 2, Understand Asset Value, examines what drives the value of stocks, gold, commodities, ETFs, Bitcoin and other asset classes.
The third season, Decode Market Trends, moves into macroeconomic and industry factors, including interest rates, inflation, market cycles, corporate earnings, artificial intelligence and semiconductor trends.
Season 4, Explore Emerging Opportunities, turns toward newer financial structures, including tokenized assets, real-world assets and prediction markets.
The final season, Become an Opportunity Explorer, is intended to help users develop an independent approach to understanding markets, evaluating opportunities and assessing risk.
The structure is notable because it puts traditional finance and crypto into the same educational framework rather than treating them as separate investment worlds.
Industry Partners Expand the Perspective
MEXC is also positioning Opportunity Compass as an industry education initiative rather than solely an exchange content program.
Participating organizations include xStocks by Kraken, Plume, Tether, Pyth, Optimism, CMT Digital and RootData, according to MEXC.
The participants represent different parts of the digital-asset ecosystem, including tokenized assets, blockchain infrastructure, stablecoins, oracle technology, Layer 2 networks and market intelligence.
Their participation reflects the increasingly interconnected architecture behind digital financial markets.
Tokenized assets require infrastructure for issuance and settlement. Decentralized applications require market data and liquidity. Stablecoins can provide transaction and settlement mechanisms. Layer 2 networks provide transaction infrastructure, while analytics platforms help participants interpret market activity.
Education therefore becomes part of the infrastructure challenge.
If financial products become easier to access but harder to understand, platforms may increase participation without necessarily improving decision quality.
AI Is Adding Another Layer of Complexity
MEXC’s survey also identifies artificial intelligence as a factor influencing stock-market participation, with 34% of current stock investors surveyed citing the AI boom as a key driver.
That finding comes as AI increasingly affects both financial markets and the companies represented within them.
AI-related equities have become an important market theme, while AI is also being deployed in trading analytics, financial research, portfolio tools and customer interfaces.
For crypto users moving into traditional markets, this creates another layer of interpretation. Understanding an AI-related asset, for example, may require separating technology adoption from corporate earnings, valuation, competitive dynamics and broader market expectations.
At the same time, AI-native financial tools can make markets easier to navigate while potentially introducing new risks if users rely too heavily on automated recommendations or opaque models.
That makes financial literacy particularly relevant as technology lowers the barriers to market participation.
Education Instead of Investment Recommendations
MEXC says Opportunity Compass is intended for educational purposes and does not constitute financial or investment advice.
That distinction is increasingly important as exchanges become gateways to multiple asset classes.
The industry’s evolution means that the traditional separation between a crypto exchange and a broader financial platform is becoming less obvious to users. Once stocks, tokenized securities, commodities and digital assets appear within connected interfaces, the responsibility for explaining differences between those instruments becomes more significant.
For MEXC, Opportunity Compass extends its existing “Infinite Opportunities” positioning into education.
But the larger industry question is whether education can keep pace with the speed at which financial products are becoming accessible.
The transition from crypto-only platforms toward broader digital financial marketplaces is likely to continue. As it does, market literacy may become a competitive differentiator alongside liquidity, fees, technology and product availability.
Opportunity Compass represents one response to that shift: teach users how markets connect before asking them to navigate the opportunities those markets create.
Market Landscape
The convergence of crypto and traditional finance is being driven by several technology and market trends:
- Tokenized real-world assets: Securities and other traditional assets are increasingly being represented through blockchain-based infrastructure.
- Crypto-native access to traditional markets: Digital-asset platforms are becoming gateways to a broader selection of financial instruments.
- Stablecoin infrastructure: Dollar- and fiat-linked digital assets are increasingly being used across trading, payments and settlement.
- AI-driven market analysis: AI is changing how investors discover information, analyze companies and interpret market movements.
- Financial education: As product access expands, platforms face greater pressure to explain asset characteristics, market drivers and risk rather than simply provide trading functionality.
