Bitmine’s Ethereum Treasury Reaches $15.8B in Assets

Bitmine Immersion Technologies has expanded its Ethereum treasury to nearly 6 million ETH, putting the company’s cryptocurrency, cash and other holdings at $15.8 billion as it doubles down on Ethereum staking and institutional digital-asset infrastructure.

Bitmine Immersion Technologies is increasing its bet on Ethereum as institutional interest in digital assets shifts toward tokenization, staking and blockchain-based financial infrastructure.

The company said its Ethereum holdings reached 5,956,378 ETH as of September 13, 2026, valued at approximately $15 billion at an ETH price of $2,513. Including Bitcoin, cash and marketable securities, and investments described as “moonshots,” Bitmine reported total holdings of $15.8 billion.

The latest figures reinforce Bitmine’s position as the largest publicly disclosed Ethereum treasury. The company said its ETH represents approximately 4.9% of Ethereum’s 122 million-token supply, putting it close to its stated target of acquiring 5% of the network’s ETH. Independent SEC-filed materials also put Ethereum’s outstanding supply at roughly 122 million as of June 30.

Bitmine acquired another 27,180 ETH during the week, continuing a purchasing strategy that management says has operated every week since the company launched its Ethereum treasury strategy in June 2025.

The company’s portfolio extends beyond ETH. As of September 13, it reported 212 BTC, a $180 million stake in Beast Industries, a $98 million investment in Eightco Holdings and $549 million in cash and marketable securities.

But the more significant development for the financial technology sector may be what Bitmine is doing with its Ethereum holdings.

As of September 7, Bitmine had 5,067,309 ETH staked, representing about 85% of its then-total ETH holdings. The company values that position at roughly $12.7 billion using its stated $2,513 ETH price. Its MAVAN platform, or Made in America VAlidator Network, is being positioned as institutional staking infrastructure for Bitmine, custodians and other ecosystem participants.

Bitmine said its staking operations produced a 7-day annualized yield of 2.62%, translating into projected annualized staking revenue of approximately $334 million at the reported level. The company also estimates that fully staking its ETH through MAVAN and partners could eventually generate approximately $392 million annually under its stated assumptions. Those are company projections rather than guaranteed returns.

That distinction matters as corporate crypto treasuries evolve. Companies holding digital assets can potentially pursue returns beyond asset-price appreciation through staking, although staking also introduces operational, market and network-specific risks.

Bitmine’s strategy also reflects a larger argument about Ethereum’s role in financial infrastructure. President Tom Lee has argued that Ethereum could become important as settlement infrastructure for Wall Street tokenization, while also suggesting blockchain networks could eventually support agentic AI applications.

Those claims remain forward-looking. However, tokenization itself has become a significant area of experimentation across financial services, with institutions exploring blockchain-based representations of traditionally off-chain assets and financial instruments.

Bitmine is therefore positioning ETH not simply as a cryptocurrency but as an infrastructure-linked asset. That thesis distinguishes the company from Bitcoin-focused corporate treasury strategies such as Strategy, whose holdings are primarily centered on BTC.

The scale of Bitmine’s position also illustrates how corporate balance sheets are becoming another channel for institutional crypto exposure. Investors buying BMNR shares are not simply gaining exposure to ETH’s price; they are also gaining exposure to the company’s treasury management, staking strategy, financing decisions and valuation relative to its underlying digital assets.

The approach carries risks. ETH prices can move sharply, staking yields can change, and a large concentration in one digital asset can create substantial balance-sheet volatility. The market value of Bitmine’s equity can also diverge from the value of its cryptocurrency holdings.

Bitmine is simultaneously building a narrative around regulatory and institutional catalysts. Management has pointed to the U.S. CLARITY Act, the GENIUS Act and the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Project Crypto initiative as developments that could influence the adoption of digital assets and blockchain-based financial services.

The company’s bullish outlook also extends to the ETH/BTC ratio. Lee argues that Ethereum has historically gained relative strength during crypto cycles associated with new applications, and expects tokenization and agentic AI to become potential drivers of the next phase.

That remains an investment thesis rather than an established market outcome. Still, the strategy highlights how the crypto market is increasingly being framed around digital-asset infrastructure, institutional staking, tokenized financial assets and programmable markets, rather than cryptocurrency trading alone.

For GlobalFinTechEdge, Bitmine’s latest disclosure is notable because it combines three increasingly connected areas of financial technology: corporate digital-asset treasuries, blockchain infrastructure and institutional staking.

Whether that model ultimately becomes a mainstream component of corporate finance will depend on regulatory clarity, institutional adoption, asset performance and the economics of operating blockchain infrastructure at scale.

Market Landscape

Bitmine’s strategy sits at the intersection of digital-asset treasury management, Ethereum staking and institutional blockchain infrastructure. Ethereum had approximately 122 million ETH outstanding as of June 30, 2026, according to SEC-filed materials, while Bitmine’s latest disclosure puts its holdings at nearly 5% of that supply.

The company is also moving beyond passive ownership through MAVAN, turning a substantial portion of its treasury into a staking operation. Its reported 5.07 million staked ETH represents about 85% of its holdings, according to the company’s disclosures.

This creates a new category of corporate crypto strategy in which balance-sheet exposure can potentially generate blockchain-native income, while also increasing the company’s exposure to ETH price volatility and staking-related risks.
